My mum went out to America after her mum died. She went to work as a nanny for a family just outside of Boston.
After finding letters from the family (and then from Mum) in the suitcase we found in Dad’s loft, I found the house she lived in on Google Streetview. Pretty nice.
Also in the suitcase was the letter Mrs Berman sent Mum, making the arrangements for her to come over and start work. 
Wow. Not quite fifty years ago but it feels like time travel.
