Feminism Friday: This

I was planning a big post about body hair today, but I didn’t do any writing yesterday (spent the whole day trying to get my head around Scrivener) so you’ve got that to look forward to next week, you lucky ducks.

Instead, just read this. It’s fucking awful.

  1. Oh my god. That is one of the most depressing things I’ve read.
I was Women’s Officer at my Students’ Union years ago. Of course, I got lots of hassle and aggro from guys, to varying degrees. That was 20 years ago and is nothing like what those girls experienced. So have things become worse? It seems to be the case. Has it become even more “ok” to speak so violently about and to women? It makes me want to cry.

    1. It’s appalling, isn’t it. But you saying “of course” you got hassle and aggro makes me sad too. Why “of course”? It really shouldn’t have to be that way, should it?

      1. Damn right! I didn’t even think about how I put that. Sadly the aggro was expected (and challenged, I have to say), it was almost on the job description. A very tiring part of the job.

        1. I bet. When I think back to working in offices, there are so many examples of sexism and sexual harassment that I didn’t even really notice at the time. It was just the way things were. And so many people will still argue that “it’s just the way things are” as if it’s completely benign. It makes me furious. (I don’t know if I’m making sense. I’ve been up since 5 and I’ve only had one cup of tea…)
